OIL REMOVED FROM TRACK

All the oil and coarse chippings are being removed from the track at Addington and the surface for the opening day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s spring meeting should be the same as in past years. Addington Trotting Course, Ltd., the company which controls the maintenance of the course, some weeks ago spread a light covering of oil on the track and covered this with coarse chippings in an effort to reduce the dust nuisance. The New Zealand Horsemen’s Association protested against the action of the company, claiming that an unsatisfactory racing surface resulted. The track was not open for work yesterday morning, but it is expected that it will be open tomorrow and on Sunday to give horses engaged at the Addington meeting an opportunity to have their final work-outs.
