Engine For Gardens

Locomotive 386, the engine which pulled the first train between Wellington and Auckland on the Main Trunk line 50 years ago has been bought by the Mayor of Taumarunui, Mr F. D. House, and presented to the txirough of Taumarunui. It has arrived in Taumarunui from Otahuhu. and is now an object of considerable interest on the garden reserve in the main street of the town. It will be handed over to the borough at a special function during the Main Trunk jubilee celebrations at Taumarunui on Saturday.— (P.A.)
