Study Of Rights Of Journalists
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) STRASBOURG, November 1. A conference of international journalists and jurists at a twoday meeting in Strasbourg discussed the right of journalists to professional secrecy and the right of the press not to disclose its sources of information. The conference, which ended today, decided to make further studies and research on the question.
It entrusted this task to the International Association of Studies and Research of Information assisted by the International Press Institute and the international and national professional organisations concerned. During the debate, journalists did not claim the right to absolute professional secrecy and did not seek to evade personal responsibility in case of high treason, infringement of the independence, military security or constitution of a country.
