PRICE ORDER BREACH

Five Licensees Fined £75 (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 3. Five Dunedin hotel licensees were each fined £75 in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for failing to comply with the beer price order of July 4. According to Mr W. F. Thomson, who prosecuted for the Price Control Division, each of the five sold a Price Control inspector a glass of beer for 9d, instead of the regulation price of Bd. Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., said the licensees had “blindly followed” the advice of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association, and now found themselves in a trap. The licensees fined were Frank Mitchell Paape, of the Excelsior Hotel; William .Robert Toon, Tattersans; John Raymond Doyle, the Fitzroy; Philip Edwin Ruston, Captain Cook; and William Ashley Coudis, Oval.
