No U.S. Treaty With Persia
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, November 1. State Department officials said today that the United States had not signed, nor was it negotiating, a new military treaty with Persia. This was a denial of the statement by Mr Andrei Gromyko, the Soviet Foreign Minister, that a new military treaty between the two countries subjected “the southern borders of the Soviet Union to immediate danger.” Mr Gromyko’s statement was contained in a message to Mr Mustafa Samii, the Persian Ambassador to the Soviet Union. Persia also denied that she had signed a new military treaty with the United States.
