Yachting MOUNT PLEASANT CLUB
B. Loader, sailing the Taka puna. Melody, won the event for women skippers held by the Mount Pleasant Boating Club on Sunday. The standard of sailing shown in this race was the best by women skippers in recent years. Although there was a strong easterly wind for the event, no craft capsized. Results were:— Saturday.—Open handicap: Gem (M Lee) 1, Melody (S. Loader) 2. Corsair (C. Moore) 3. Sunday.—P class final heat (Mrs Buxton's trophy): Scram (E. Paterson) 1. Imp (G. Marshall) 2, Myth (G. Judge) 3. Women's Race.—Melody (B. Loader) 1. Ecstacy (K. Turner) 2, Escapade (J. French) 3.
STEWART’S CULLY CLUB
The Stewart's Gully Sailing Club held its third trial on Saturday to select its representative for the provincial P class (Tanner Cup) trials. The fourth race, on Sunday, was abandoned. Results of the third race were:— Condor (R. Dempsey) 1, Convict (B. Parnham) 2, Conquest (D. Henderson) 3. Conquest is leading in the trials.
