ENGINEER GRADE I Applications are invited from British Subjects qualified to fill positions of Engineer Grade I with the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Australia) at its Head Office in Sydney. Qualifications Required: • A Degree or Diploma in an appropriate branch of engineering or science from an approved University or Technical College or similar professional qualifications equivalent to the standard required for Graduate Membership of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. Salary Range: £lOl5-£1420 (Australian) per annum. The commencing salary for graduates without telecommunications experience will be determined within the above range according to qualifications, the normal minima being: Honours Engineering Graduate .. £ (A) 1205 per annum Pass Engineering or Honours Science Graduate .. .. £(A)U6S per annum Science Graduate .. .. £(A)1135 per annum Technical College Diplomate .. £ (A)1105 per annum For graduates with suitable experience in telecommunications engineering higher commencing salaries than those quoted above, but subject to the maximum of £ (A) 1420, may be paid. Good prospects exist for subsequent promotion through a career in Telecommunications Engineering. (The present exchange rate is £(A)100= £(N.Z.)80.) Location: The successful applicant will be attached to the Commission’s Engineering Branch, which is located at its Head Office in Sydney, but may be required to visit and work for short periods at establishments located' elsewhere in Australia and in Papua/New Guinea. The Commission is the Australian National Body of the British Commonwealth Telecommunications System and provides and maintains commercial telecommunications between Australia and overseas countries. Its facilities include two main Telegraph Offices, 5 Cable Repeater Stations, 6 main Radio Stations and Coastal Radio Stations located at 25 centres around the mainland of Australia and adjacent Islands. General: The appointment will be in accordance with the provisions of the Overseas Telecommunications Act and will be subject to an initial probationary period not exceeding twelve months and conditional upon a, satisfactory medical examination, after which the successful applicant will be required to contribute to the Commonwealth Superannuation Fund. Fares and other removal expenses of successful appointees will be reimbursed on completion of the prescribed probationary period.
