Mora and Company, Ltd., the occupier of shop premises situate at Beach road, Akaroa, will apply to the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch on Wednesday, the 22nd day of October, 1958, at 2.15 p.m., for partial exemption from the closing provisions of the New Zealand (except Northern Industrial District) General Retail Shop Assistants Award, dated 10th September, 1957, namely for permission to open such premises on each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., for the sale of all classes of drapery and mercery, haberdashery, fancy goods, ornaments, materials, fabrics, household requisites, toys, and books. The grounds for the application are:— (a) It is made following requests to the applicant by residents of and visitors to Akaroa and it is therefore desirable that service to the public be provided at all reasonable times. (b) The exemption applied for will not affect the interest of the occupier of any other shop in Akaroa. Any occupier of any shop and any representative of such Industrial Union of Workers or Employers as are affected and any organisation which may be affected by the result of the proceedings shall be entitled to appear and be heard on the application. This notice DOES NOT apply to the following parts of the Waimairi County Fire District: — 1. All that area bounded as folCommencing at the intersection of Brodie street and Yaldhurst road. thence northerly along Brodie street to Athol terrace, thence easterly along Athol terrace to Waimairi road, thence northerly along Waimairi road to Grahams road, thence northerly and easterly along Grahams road to the County boundary on Greers road, thence in a generally southerly and westerly direction along the County boundary to the point of commencement at the intersection of Brodie street and Yaldhurst road. 2. The areas specified above, over which the Closed Fire Season has not been declared, comprise, in the main, the built-up areas of the Papanui, Harewood, and Wairarapa Ridings. and the whole of the Fendalton and Middleton Ridings of the County. Residents in these areas are not required to obtain fire permits, but all burning must be carried out in accordance with the County By-law. Copies of the By-law are obtainable from the County Office. Residents in that part of the County in which the Closed Fire Season is in force must obtain a WRITTEN fire permit for any burning in the open Permits are valid for two weeks and can be obtained by ringing the County Office during office hours.
