£5090 RAISED AT SCHOOL FETE

St. Andrew’s College Plans

The final proceeds of the St. Andrew’s College fete, held on March 7 and 8, were £5090, it was announced this week at a meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association. This is believed to be the largest amount ever raised at a single private-school effort in Christchurch. The funds will be used to build changing rooms at the swimming baths, five courts, and possibly a small sports pavilion. The organiser of the fete (Mr G. A. M. Hllson) and the rector (Mr L. W. Stewart) expressed appreciation to all helpers and supporters.

Rear-Admiral George Dufek, whose sons attend the college, showed the new film on the United States Antarctic expedition.
