IMPORTS INTO JORDAN
(Rec. 9 p.m.) AMMAN, Sept. 25 The port authority of Akaba. Jordan’s only sea outlet, has refused a request by Jordanian importers to be allowed to import goods by ports other than Akaba, Dr. Sami Joudeh, Minister of Communications, said in Amman, according to the British United Press. Before the Lebanese troubles, the main entry for imports into Jordan was the Beirut free zone. The port of Akaba has flourished since the troubles and after the severing of relations with the United Arab Republic, wheri Syria closed its territory to supplies being carried from Lebanon to Jordan.
Syria has since agreed to reopening the service on a limited basis.
