Contract Signed For Cable
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) MONTREAL, September 25 A British and a Canadian firm signed a contract in Montreal today to build a major section of a new trans-Atlantic telephone cable which will form part of the global Commonwealth link announced yesterday. The 2,500,000-dollar contract tor the coaxial cable was signed by Submarine Cables, Ltd., of London, and Canadian Overseas Telecommunication Corporation, of Montreal. The cable is to be completed by 1961.
