AIR CRASH IN ARMENIA
Bodies Returned To Germany
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 11.20 p.m.) FRANKFURT, September 26. The bodies of six United States Air Force men, killed when their transport plane crashed in Soviet Armenia bn September 2, were flown into Frankfurt last night. The bodies were handed over on the Turkish-Soviet border yesterday. Eleven other Americans said to have been aboard the ill-fated aircraft are missing and the Soviet authorities deny any knowledge of them. The United States State Department said on September 12 that the aircraft, which had taken off from Adana, Turkey, had been intercepted by Soviet fighters near the Turkish town of Kars. It had been directed eastward and later an explosion was heard and smoke was seen rising from hills in Soviet territory. The Air Force said the plane had been investigating radio wave propagation at the time it was intercepted.
