Writs Served On V.R.C.
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Sept. 24. Writs taken out in the High Court in Sydney by the jockey, Athol George Mulley, and a Brisbane bookmaker, Mr T. Marney, against the Victorian Racing Club committee, have been served on the V.R.C. chairman, Sir Chester Manifold, as nominal defendant. The writs, which are Identical, claim that Mulled and Marney have been denied natural justice by the purported decision of the V.R.C. Both writs seek a declaration from the High Court that the “purported decision of the V.R.C. committee was and is invalid, null and void.’’
Mulley, in Sydney, and Marney, in Brisbane, received letters from the V.R.C. on September 8. It is believed that the V.R.C., acting under club by-laws, informed Mulley and Marney that they would not be admitted to Flemington racecourse. and if they entered the course they would ba expelled.
