FLUORIDATION OPPOSED

Conference Of Housewives

(New Zealand Press Association) GREYMOUTH, Sept. 23.

Fluoridation of public water supplies produced a lively discussion at today’s annual conference of the Housewives’ Federation at Greymouth. The discussion showed that not all delegates were agreed on whether or not fluoridation was beneficial, but the following remit was passed:

“That fluoridation of community water supplies be abandoned as a scheme for improving children’s teeth and preventing dental decay, as it is an infringement of the liberty of the subject and has yet to be proved safe for children and the general public.”
