FIFTY YEARS AGO.—A member of the present-day First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, Mrs Lesley Wainwright, of Kensington, is shown wearing the scarlet cap and jacket and the long navy blue skirt of the volunteers of 50 years ago, who used to ride side-saddle to the front line to minister to the wounded soldiers. Mrs Wainwright was taking part in a cavalcade of uniforms through the ages (from the battle of Crecy to the present day), which was held at Roundwood park, Harlesdon, near London.
