reprimanded for not notifying Mackie earlier of the change in the jockeys.
£7. W. Hare rode Blonde Sprite and J. M. Cappie was Pinnace’s rider.
An inquiry was held into the running of the favourite, Jesse Owens, in the Clarendon Hack Handicap. The owner-trainer, Mr P. H. Andrews, said that the horse had never raced beyond nine furlongs before. His instructions to the jockey were not to take the l\orse to the front early in view of his heavy weight and the extra distance. The horse had pulled himself to the front and when eventually steadied the rest of the field had gone round him. His explanation was accepted. -In the Trial Handicap The Rector was leaning on the back strap and was caught flat-footed at the start. The Rector lost many lengths but finished fifth. K. Schubert, rider of Royal Loch in the Trial Handicap, struck accidental interference in between the three and four furlongs, causing him to hit the running rail and drop out.
