Apple Pie May Be Favourite
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 9. The New Zealand-owned filly, Apple Pie, is expected to start favourite in the Gimcrack Stakes at Rand wick on October 6. The trainer, A. E. Didham, bought Apple Pie (Newtown Wonder—Silver Words) for Mr Dunean McFarlane at this year’s Sydney yearling sales for 2300gns. The Gimcrack Stakes is the first race in Sydney for two-year-old fillies. Apple. Pie’s trainer, A. N. Didham, has informed the Australian Jockey Club he will bring the filly to Australia for the race. Apple Pie and Didham’s four other horses are scheduled to arrive in Sydney on September 18.
