Bus Time-tables
Sir, —It makes great reading to see on the backs of our Christchurch Transport buses, “Travel by bus no parking fuss.” Why advertise if the service is not there to back it up? One reads complaints at board meetings about loss of revenue, also a joke if the service is no good. On Tuesday evening I waited at Madras street stop from 4.59 p.m. till 5.4 Q p.m. for a bus to take me to Shirley. Two Shirley buses went past full up, at 5.12 p.m. and 5.23 p.m. and still I stood in the cold. Why not run another bus and allow people to get home? Maybe we will get some lame explanation about it. but if the Transport Board wants the patronage it will have to pull its socks up.—Yours, etc., COLD AND HUNGRY.
July 29. 1958. [The general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardel!) said checks had been made since the receipt of the letter, and they showed that accommodation was available on all Shirley buses at the times quoted. If additional accommodation were required, it would be provided.!
