VETERANS OF THE FIRST PACIFIC FLIGHT.—Messrs James Warner (left) and Harry Lyon, who were members of the crew of Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith’s Southern Cross on the first trans-Pacific flight 30 years ago, photographed on their arrival in Sydney from the United States last week. Mr Warner, now aged 68, was radio operator, and Mr Lyon, who is 73, was navigator. They will be present at Eagle Farm Airport, Brisbane, next Sunday, for the official opening of a museum in which th e Southern Cross will be permanently displayed.
