TAURANGA MEETING

Alonsun-Vivian Double (New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA. August 10. The Whakatane Racing Club’s winter meeting was held on the Tauranga Racing Club’s course on Saturday. The weather was fine but overcast and the course dead. The double—Alonsun and Vivianpaid £49 15s 6d for £l. Totalisator investments amounted to £53,246. e o D. J. Rich, rider of Supreme Title, received suspected concussion when his mount fell in the Farewell Handicap: He was taken to the Tauranga Hospital. An inquiry was opened and evidence taken from two patrol stewards and N. B. Holland, rider of LuckV Alphe. It was adjourned until such time as evidence can be taken from Rich. G. O. Mudgway. rider of Peter Willonyx, in the President’s Handicap was questioned about his riding instructions. His explanation to the committee was accepted. W. H. Short, rider of Peterford in the same race, was questioned as to his riding instructions and handling of his mount during the race. His explanation to the committee was accepted. Results:—
