AIR SERVICE IN PACIFIC
French Line’s Plans “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, August 5. The French airline Transports Aeriens Intercontinenteaux hopes to begin a regular service from Nandi, Fiji, to Bora Bora, Tahiti, on October 5. New Zealanders will then be able to fly to Tahiti—by Tasman Empire Airways to Fiji and then by T.A.I. to Tahiti, in spite of the finish of the Coral Route. The Tasman Empire Airways Solent flying-boat can no longer fly from Western Samoa to Tahiti because navigational and radio aids in the Cook Islands have finally failed. Flying a DC-68, the French company has plans for a flight m August, and another one in September, before beginning a regular schedule in October. But the company head office, in Paris, has not yet confirmed this. Tasman Empire Airways will shortly begin a six-month schedule with the Solent flying-boat from Suva to Apia, Western Samoa.
