AUSTRALIAN COKING COAL
Japanese Interest (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY. August 4. A Japanese delegation of steel industry representatives will test the quality of Australian coking coal and its suitability for the needs of the Japanese steel industry. The delegation will make the tests ih Queensland and New South Wales coalfields, the chairman of the Australian Joint Coal Board (Mr S. F. Cochran) said today. A spokesman for the visiting delegation said Japan was now importing 45 per cent, of its coal requirements in the steel industry. This would increase with the growth of the industry, he added.
