PARLIAMENT Mr Nash Hopes Session Will End Next Month
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 5. An indication that the present session of Parliament could finish early in September was given by the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) in the House of Representatives tonight after a number of departmental estimates had been passed in unusually short time. After the estimates before the House had been disposed of, four bills were introduced and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Holyoake) commented that these were not of great importance. He asked if more important measures could not be brought down so that they could be studied before they were debated. Mr Nash said a lot of thanks were due to the Opposition for the way they had co-operated in passing the estimates before the House. Mr Nash added that it was his aim to finish early in September so that the Minister of Finance (Mr Nordmeyer) could get away to the Montreal Conference. He assured the House that everything possible would be done to bring legislation before it as soon as could be managed.
