MAN FIRED PISTOL “JUST FOR FUN”

Disturbance In Wellington (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 18. Pistol shots in the night attracted the people to the rear of city premises on Friday, said a police witness in the Magistrate’s Court today. He said they discovered the explosions were made by a starter’s pistol in the possession of Edwin Richard Clark, aged 20. a male nurse.

Clark told the police he fired the pistol “just for fun.” Later, it was discovered he had a stiletto in a sheath, strapped round his waist. He told the police this was to protect himself in case he was attacked.

Clark pleaded guilty to charges of igniting explosive material and carrying an offensive weapon, and was remanded by Mr J. B. Thomson, S.M., for a probation officer’s report.
