Coveted Trophy

A Brisbane man who read of the shortage of golf balls in New Zealand has offered to provide the Auckland Golf Club with several boxes of balls for club competitions during the rest of the season. In a letter to the secretary of the club, Mr L. C. Heiser, of Wavell Heights, Brisbane, enclosed a newspaper cutting describing boys scouring Auckland courses for balls. He wrote: "I am writing to find if the position with regard to golf balls is acute. If so, may I offer a trophy of a dozen golf balls several times during the year. It ; may be wise to check if a gift of balls may be received from outside New Zealand." The club has accepted the offer.—(PA.)
