Blizzard Causes Fire A blizzard on Mt. Ruapehu yesterday cause a fire in Christiania hut, high up on the mountain About 5 a.m. one of four skiers in the hut awoke to smell burning. Bus Passengers More motorists may be leaving their cars at home and travelling by bus since the petrol tax was increased, but it is too early yet to be noticeable. Subscriptions will be subsidised by the Government at £2 for £l, and a spokesman for the Lands and Survey Department said yesterday that tenders will be called when the subscriptions reach £lOOO. , Trust’s Gifts A total of £4OOO will be distributed this year by the Invercargill Licensing Trust from its profits for last year. This is the thirteenth distribution of profits the trust has made in its 14 years. The grand total distributed is now £64,366, an average of just under £5OOO a year. More than half of the £4OOO will go to the Invercargill City Council, £5O for the juvenile library and £2150 for civic amenities. Two donations of £5OO have been made.
