TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILDS

Area Federation Plans Mrs J. Fowler presided at a recent meeting of the Christchurch Area Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds and welcomed leaders of drama groups. Arrangements for a drama festival to be held this month were made. Ten guilds will take part in the festival and in a refresher course for handcraft to be held later in the month. Arrangements for a mannequin parade to be held in August were also discussed. After giving a report on a meeting of the entertainment committee of the Aged People’s Welfare Council, Mrs Fowler said that the Somerfield Guild would provide a programme of entertainment at Langford House. Mrs A. Thomson was appointed the federation’s representative on the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women. Mrs C. Osborne was appointed assist-ant-secretary.
