(New Zealand Press Association) i WELLINGTON, July 3. The Defence Fund balance was £28.734,302 on March 31, this year, according to the annual report of the Controller and Auditor-Gen eral (Mr C. J. Atkin) Of that amount £28.551,801 was invested, £19.851,801 being in overseas securities.
The fund is available for any purpose connected directly or indirectly with any war or threat of war in or to which New Zea-‘ land may at any time be engaged i or exposed. r
