FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation: An anti-cyclone centred east of the North Island is moving away eastward; a depression over the north Tasman Sea is moving south-eastward and a strong northwesterly airstream covers the south Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Canterbury: Moderate variable winds; north-easterlies predominating on the coast and north-westerlies inland; patches of fog or low cloud this morning, but weather otherwise fair to fine; temperatures moderate to mild this afternoon. Outlook: fair. West Coast: Moderate northerly or easterly winds; weather cloudy with some scattered rain in the far south; temperatures moderate Outlook: occasional rain. Nelson and Marlborough: Fresh north-westerly winds about Cook Strait and moderate northerlies elsewhere; weather fair to cloudy with mild day temperatures. Outlook: scattered rain or showers likely.
