Town-Country Table Tennis

This evening, the first of a series of ) annual Town-Country table tennis contests, arranged by the Canterbury Table Tennis Association, will be played. At the request of the sub-associations affiliated to the Canterbury association, the annual sub-associations tournament, which is usually played in September, was played

last Saturday, so that this reprer sentative ’match could also be arranged. As an aid to encouraging the game in country centres, the Town-Country match will be played in each district- in turp. This evening's contest will be held at Darfield. In addition to showing the good players in the Country team, the match will also afford the provincial selector (Mr P. A. Williamson) the chance of comparing the play of several Town players on the verge of the representative team. These include R. L. Hulstpn, D. Hill, and Misses D. Donald and E. Brown. Interest will be in the subassociation’s younger players, especially - A. N. Chamberlain {Springs) and Miss C. Rapley (Mid-Canterbury). Miss Rapley has represented the province in junior fixtures for several seasons.!
