June 20. ~T he New York Times" and the New York “Herald Tribune” both commented in leading articles today that all the parties in Hie Cyprus dispute should give close attention to the new plan for the island announced yesterday by Mr Macmillan, the British Prime Minister.
The Herald Tribune" commented: “If any nation is entitled to a sympathetic hearing in its plans for dependent people that nation is Great Britain. ,? 3 years since World War 11, while the Soviet imperialls^?,.“ ave been adding a thousand million people to their enslavement, Britain has set five colonies and 479.538.000 human beings on the road to self-government and freedom.”
Death Sentence For Terrorists. —A French military tribunal today sentenced to death four Algerians for killing four persons and making 10 assassination attempts.*—Algiers, June 20.
