Wellington In Good Position (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS. June 18. With four rounds played, and three to go, Wellington is in a good winning position in the North Island section of the Russell Grace women’s interprovincial golf competition at Hastings. The complete rout of Taranaki this morning to score the maximum of six points gave Wellington a commanding lead, and at the end of the seqpnd day’s play, Wellington is four points ahead of Waikato-King Country and Hawke’s Bay—Poverty Bay. Waikato-King Country also had a clean sweep this afternoon when it won all six games against Northland. Hawke s Bay-Poverty Bay and Manawatu each dropped only one game in this afternoon’s round. The Points to date are as follows: —Wellington 181, Hawke’s Bay-Pov-erty Bay and Waikato-King Countrv 141 each, Manawatu (holders) 14.
