BUNYARRA INQUIRY

Jockey Suspended For 12 Months (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND,. June 18. R G. Forbes, the rider of Bunyarra in the Visitors’ Handicap at Ellerslie on June 7, was today disqualified for 12 months by the judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club. He was charged with not riding the horse on its merits. The part-trainer. C. E. Davis, was exonerated from a similar charge of not running the horse on its merits. The inquiry, which was adjourned from June 7. was continued before the judicial committee of the Auckland Racing Club today. R. G. Forbes was charged under rule 282 of the Rules of Racing with not having ridden Bunyarra on its merits, and C. E. Davis was charged with not running the horse on its merits. The charges were laid by the stipendiary steward. Mr J. A. Poulsen, on June 7. Evidence was heard from Poulsen and another stipendiary steward, Mr H. Duncan, the patrol steward. Mr W. A. Ryan. Forbes. Davis, and the jockey, N. B. Holland. who rode Bandera in the same race. A statement was also given by a part-owner, Mr W. R. Troutbeck. . Tiie inquiry was then adjourned to enable Forbes to call further evidence. The Visitors’ Handicap was won by Disarm, a stablemate of Bunyarra, from Sambula and Stylish Officer. Bunyarra was fourth.
