Official Secrets Act Charge

(Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON. June 7. A 45-year-old electronics engineer, a former employee of an aircraft firm, was remanded in custody at Worthing, Sussex, today on a’ charge under the Official Secrets Act. Bryan Frederick Llnney, was charged that on an unknown date last February for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or interest of the State he communicated to another person a document which was calculated to be or might be directly useful to an enemy. Detective - Inspector Edward Lester said that when charged in the presence of his own solicitor. Linney, a married man with three children, had said, “I quite understand.” The Magistrates were told that the Director of Public Prosecutions would take the case in due course.
