SUBMARINE RAMMED BY DESTROYER.—The United States submarine Stickleback lists to port after being rammed by the destroyer escort U.S.S. Silverstein on May 30, 19 miles southwest of Pearl Harbour, in the Hawaiian Islands. This aerial view shows the submarine tied up to the Silverstein as the escort ship and a crash boat evacuate the 92 members of the submarine’s crew. The Stickleback sank in waters nearly two miles deep five hours after the collision.
