South Australia Has Dust Storm
(Rec. 9 p.m.) ADELAIDE, June 4 One of the worst dust storms for many years has been raging over South Australia since before dawn today, blanketing thousands of square miles in eerie, murky half-darkness.
Thousands of tons of sand and soil from far inland are estimated already to have blown out to sea.
Adelaide airport was closed tc all traffic about 11.30 a.m.—the first time ever because of dustwith visibility down to half a mile
The Weather Bureau continued broadcasting storm warnings for the whole of the South Australian coast.
Cars going to the Snowtowr. races today were forced to crawl along in bottom gear, several times coining to a standstill.
