NEW THEATRE IN DUNEDIN

Christchurch Company’s Plans A small private Christchurch company, Otago Cinemas. Ltd., has plans for opening Dunedin’s first independent, suburban theatre on the site of the old Moulin Rouge Theatre in Kaikorai. The Dunedin City Council has approved the company’s scheme. Permission has yet to be given by the theatre licensing officer. Wellington. ■ Mr M. Foate, of Christchurch, the secretary and a director of the company, said the intention was to demolish the present building as soon .as possible and replace it with a modern reinforced concrete building at a cost of about £20,000. The company was formed in Christchurch early last year. It consists mainly of Christchurch shareholders, although there are holdings in other parts of the South Island. ,
