Badminton MALAYANS OPEN TOUR
Dazzling Display At Auckland
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 19. A dazzling display of. forcing badminton by the Malayan student, E. H. Ong. who has been champion of Australia for the last three years was the outstanding feature of the first appearance in New Zealand of the Malayan students' team tonight. Flaying against J. E. Robson, who has won the New Zealand championship six times and the Australian championship once, Ong plaved with magnificent agility, precision, and power and comfortably defeated Robson., 13-10, 15-5. Auckland, which opposed the students before a crowded hall at Avondale College, was beaten in all five rubbers of the contest. The Malayans impressed with the swiftness of their reactions, the speed of their movement, and their remarkable balance.
Results were:—Y. S. Fong beat D S. Barnes. 15-8, 15-18. 15-10; T. K. Lee beat K. V. Long. 18-14, 9-15. 15-11; E. H. Ong beat J. E. Robson. 15-10, 15-5: S H. Lee and Koo beat Barnes and Long. 21-10; Ong and E H. Khoo beat Robson and R. Wong. 21-151
