Strong Right Hand

The Sheriff of Nottingham has had a fibreglass right hand constructed for official handshakes.

He dons the hand, and covers it with a white cotton glove when he has to shake hands with large numbers of people on official occasions. The Sheriff, Mr John Llewellyn Davies, a consultant surgeon, has an injury in his right hand, and hearty handshakes cause him pain The artificial hand fits over his real hand like a mitten, completely protecting the knuckles and wrist.— Nottingham, April 27.
