JERSEY CATTLE CLUB
Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Midland Canterbury Jersey Cattle Club were: president, Mr E. L. Crosland; vice-president, Mr H. J. Hurford; committee, Messrs R. E. C. Rossiter (past president), L. D. Adams, T. C. Carter, L. P Hawke, M. Johnson, and R. Portis; secretary, Mr M. Duncan Jones; auditor, Mr J. R. White. Fifteen entries were received for the butterfat and milk contest for the period ending last year. Placings .were: E. L. Crosland’s Santa Clara Clarinda, which produced 6681 b. fat, and 11,8501 b of milk, 1. H. J. Hurford’s Clover Nook Dame, which produced 5341 b fat, and 11,0401 b of milk, 2. E. L. Crosland’s Ribbonwood Alison, which produced 5011 b of fat, and 9930 lb of milk, 3. A challenge cup has been given to the club by Mr C. Rossiter and Mr and Mrs R. E. C. Rossiter for competition in a 1000-gallon milk contest.
Mr L. A. Higgins, president of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association and Mr A. C. Gray, council member for the South Island No. 2 district, attended the meeting by invitation.
