Pork
Sir.—Why do we South Island pig-farmers have to put up with pork being brought down from the North Island at this time of the year to spoil our local market? Butchers buy this pork at greatly reduced prices, but the public are not sharing the reduction. The North Island will not take our potatoes until the North Island crop is all finished, so why should we accept their pork?—Yours, etc., PIG MURPHY. April 29, 1958.
