English County Matches Begin

The champion county, Surrey, had lost two wickets for 120 runs at the end of the second day’s play in the opening first-class match of the 1958 English cricket season against Cambridge University today. There was no play on Saturday because of rain. E. Dexter put on 72 of Cambridge’s first innings 164. while the England captain, Peter May, was undefeated with 50 at stumps tonight. Glamorgan was 19 for none after a first innings of 188 in a two-day friendly match against Somerset, which scored 177 in their first innings.
