Availability Of Guest Players The Canterbury Football Association decided at its meeting last evening to write to the new Zealand association asking if Ken Armstrong would be available for selection in the Canterbury team SjT? + against Jugoslav bpartak team. He felt that the men should be asked if. they were available. “The letter from the New Zealand association said that we could use guest players. Who is going to select them?” asked Mr Ellmgham. “Your selector, with the New Zealand selectors,” replied Mr Smith. Mr T. Gottermeyer also supported Mr Ellingham. The association had asked the selector to use guest players, but it was no use his selecting them if they were not available. Mr J. Smith and Mr V. Ferris both reported that members of local clubs were opposed to the inclusion of players from other districts in the Canterbury team. “You say that the clubs are against it,” said Mr Ellingham. “We have representatives of the clubs here and there has been no opposition either tonight or last week when we decided to ask the selector to consider the inclusion □f these players.” Mr Ferris said that he had heard opposition since the last meeting. After further discussion it was finally agreed that a letter be sent asking if Armstrong would be available. It had previously been stated that Aird would not be available.
