DURHAM STREET ART GALLERY
No Financial Help By Council
As it contemplates fairly heavy expenditure during the current financial year for maintenance work at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, the City Council agreed last evening that it could not give the Canterbury Society of Arts financial assistance towards renovating the Durham Street Art Gallery. It agreed to the setting up of a co-ordinating committee consisting of council representatives, members of the society, the City Librarian (Mr R. N. O’Reilly), and the honorary curator of the art gallery (Mr W. S. Baverstock) so that there would be closer liaison on the arrangements for travelling exhibitions.
