DUMPING OF BUTTER
“Situation Grows Worse” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 15. While Ministers talked about New Zealand butter the situation grew worse, the “Daily Express” said today. The newspaper carried a leading article on the current talks between the New Zealand Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) and the Board of Trade on dumping of European butter in Britain. The talks continued today. “In the first three months of this year every pound of butter that Finland exported came to Britain. “Last year, subsidised Swedisn butter sales to this country rose ten-fold. New Zealand sales fell by 10,000 tons. “Britain is the only major country in the world to permit this dumping by foreigners. Britain should accept Mr Skinners plea and this day reject the foreigners’ produce,” said the “Daily Express.”
