SHORTAGE OF GROUNDS
Request For Hajjley No. 2
Because a cycle track ran across the ground, the Canterbury Football Association did not apply foi the use of Hagley No. 2 this season, but the Junior Management Committee of the association has requested that because of the shortage of grounds caused by the increased number of teams taking part in its competitions, the ground be made available. Ai last evening’s meeting of the association, the opinion was exthat the ruts caused by ■ bicycles could cause injury, and a sub-committee was set up to inspect the ground with representatives from the Junior Management Committee.
A letter was received from the South Canterbury association reinstating its challenge for the Football Association Trophy. Because of the match against 1 the touring Jugoslav team at , Queen’s Birthday week-end, the I proposed match with Wellington foi the Gordon Cup will not be possible, and Mr J. Smith suggestied that the Wellington and Otago ' associations be asked if they could arrange for the first of their home and away games with Canterbury at an early date. Mr Smith thought these games should be played as early as possible to give the New Zealand selectors a chance of seeing the players ?n action.
It was reported that coaches who attended the recent training course under Mr K. Armstrong were available for those clubs who did not have members attending the course, and it was decided to write to clubs offering them their services.
