J. W. Johnston, of the Charterls Bay Club, returned the best score recorded on the Charteris Bay links with a round of 71 in the recent invitation tournament. This beat the nrevlous best round of 72 by N. R. Farrant two seasons ago. The standard scratch score to 69. Members of Peninsula clubs were invited to take part in a 86-hole competition.
