Kurdistan To Stay In Southland
“The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL, April 15. The English-bred sire, Kurdistan, is to continue to do stud duty in Southland. Kurdistan, which had been held on lease by the Chelandry stud, was placed on the private sale list when Mr W. E. Haslett decided to dispose of most of his Chelandry stud stock. Widespread Inquiries were made for Kurdistan, but in order to retain him in Southland Mr Hazlett has bought a half share in the Tehran horse from his owners, Deegan Bros., of Winton, who imported him. Kurdistan will stand at the Chelandry stud. A principal of one of New Zealand’s leading bloodstock agencies said recently that he could have sold Kurdistan to Australia, but preferred not to do so as 4t would be better for the bloodstock industry in this country if he was retained. Kurdistan's first crop included Teaka, Chattering, The Wanderer, and Pilot Light.
