Athletics AVONSIDE GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
Annual Sports Held With 23 points, Judith Whiting won the junior championship at the Avonside Girls’ High School sports held at the school yesterday. She was the outstanding competitor, winning four of the five junior championship events and gaining second place in the other event. She also equalled the junior high jump record of 4ft 6Jin. The runner-up was Pauline Syme, with nine points. With a one-point lead, Jill Hall won the intermediate championship from Lyndsay Dasler, who gained 15 points. Jill Hall gained first place in the high jump and - 75 yards hurdles and second place in the 100 yards and the long jump. The senior championship went to Patricia McMillan (15 points), who gained first place in the discus, high jump, and long jump, and second place in the 100 yards.
