ROAD SAFETY SCHEME
Junior Chamber’s Plan (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 11. A comprehensive campaign to fight road accidents prepared by the Dunedin Junior Chamber of Commerce was put before the New Zealand Road Safety Council yesterday. Mr H. M. Barrowclough, of Dunedin, told the council that the scheme would be backed by Junior Chambers throughout New Zealand. The council commended the chambers for their interest in road safety. It decided that it would favour a scheme for the promotion of road safety such as suggested, provided it had the approval of organisations whose cooperation was sought / Mr Barrowclough provided council members with a suggested programme for the campaign, which included provision for a high school driving education plan, a road curtesy competition (with a suggested prize of one year’s free parking), road safety advertising, and many detailed examples of how aspects of road safety promotion could be encouraged.
